A new master has arrived
Few guitarists today can match Anders Clemens Øien.
Anders Clemens Øien’s new CD, “Recuerdos de Tárrega”, is a musical
delight from start to finish. He is a new master. But “master” is too weak a
word to describe all the impressions his new CD has given me in the past
few weeks. His playing is so exceptional that it actually takes this
reviewer’s breath away.

It is now a hundred years since the death of Spanish guitarist and
composer Francisco Tárrega, and Øien’s performances of his repertoire are
absolutely superb. In the quiet sections he almost torments the listener,
holding back until we are eagerly anticipating the next note.
